– Post-hernia surgery patients will feel an area of pain that causes the patient to restrict movement. This causes decreased tissue blood supply and triggers pain mediators. This study aims to determine the effect of early mobilization on pain levels in postoperative hernia patients at Lumajang Islamic Hospital. This study used a pre-experimental design method with a pre-test and post-test one group design approach. The research sample was 30 respondents who were taken by purposive sampling technique. The intervention was carried out according to the SOP for early mobilization and the pain scale was measured using the Bourbonis pain scale. The statistical test of this study used a paired t test. The results of the study were obtained before the intervention the pain scale had a mean of 6.03 (moderate pain) while after the intervention the pain scale decreased with a mean of 3.2 (mild pain). The p-value of the study was obtained 0.000 <0.05, which means that there is an effect of early mobilization on the level of pain in postoperative hernia patients at Lumajang Islamic Hospital. Early mobilization of pain distraction methods that inhibit mediator pain activation thereby reducing the pain scale of postoperative patients. Nurses can provide early mobilization interventions in postoperative hernia patients so as to reduce the pain scale and speed up the recovery process.
